Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island known as West Island. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel grew-up in Courtice near Oshawa, Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but a growth spurt resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned into acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the school's annual production. It was her choice to take on the lead role of Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been in over 60 productions both smaller and large. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in Season 1 which was viewed only at times.
